After 38-1/2 years surveying with the City of San Mateo Engineering Department, the loss of my first wife and some good friends (none of which used their last breath to say “I wish I had spent more time at work”), I decided to hang up my survey belt and pick up my camera. My wife, Sue, and I have taken the opportunity to travel, linking her birding interest with my photography and also to just enjoy life. We have visited Australia, Tanzania, Kenya, Alaska, Costa Rica, Panama, Ecuador, Peru, Galapagos Islands, Chile, Easter Island, Trinidad-Tobago, India, Belize, Canada, Madagascar, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and many areas here in the States. I enjoy all types of photography, favorites being Nature and Grandchildren.

I compete at MillbraeCamera Club and Northern California Council of Camera Clubs (N4C). I have also competed and won awards at the San Mateo County Fair (Artist of the Year 2006), the 2005 Sierra Club Yodeler Photo Exhibit (the image was used on their Reception Invitation Card) and FotoClave competitions.

I have been a Canon user since 1968, so I continue to use Canon. I now use a Digital Canon 1D Mark III, Digital 5D Mark III and a Digital 7D Mark II. My lenses consist of an array of Canon lenses from 8mm to 500mm. All images are produced using Photoshop and printed on Breathing Color archival paper using Epson archival ink. All images are matted and framed also using archival materials.
My philosophy for photography and life in general – Push the shutter; if you don’t, you are guaranteed NOT to get the picture. Learn from your mistakes and enjoy your successes. Keep in mind that we are all passing through, just some faster than others, so live life to its fullest.
